Thanks a lot, this blog has been refreshingly simple and clear.

Last year, I followed this advice to sync my LR Catalog using Dropbox. I never got it to work between computers...I did something wrong. THen on top of it, I realize that I must have forgotten to shut down an instance of LR and opened another instance on another computer (I'm just reading about this pitfall now, rereading your initial article).
SO. I now have a conflicted copy . How do I back out of this on both of my computers? I want to just merge them and forget about the Dropbox thing for now (or redo it). Can you tell me how? Everything is working find, but separately, and the catalog always says conflicted (lightroom 2 catalog (Michael-Paredess-MacBook-Air's conflicted copy 2011-02-26) (Michael-Paredess-MacBook-Air's conflicted copy 2011-03-01) (Michael-Paredess-MacBook-Air's conflicted copy 2011-06-24)-2 is the name of my catalog now!).

Thanks so much, guys/gals.

Thank you very much! I'm exactly in the same situation, although I use an iMac at the office, sometimes my MBP and a PC when on my recliner :-D

Next week I'll try to share the catalog with a work mate, using another PC.

Nice tuto, well positioned in Google.

Hey there! One important follow-up question:

Synching your catalog files like that is nice and everything, but in order to really make that work, you have to have the exact same hirachy and structure of your photo database on either your MBP and your iMac, and also at the same place (/pictures e.g.) on your hard drive correct? So what If I only have a fraction of my big catalog on my MBP, oder let's I travel and have new photos added on my MBP which are not yet on the iMac. Then I have to sync the actual images first, right? Do you have any good recipe to do that do?

Thanks so much, very nice tutorial!

Thanks for this post. Everything worked great...right up until when I opened the LR catalog on my macbook, clicked the ? on one of the images in a specific folder in LR, navigated to where that image exists on my iMac and clicked on the matching image file. After that, all of the images in the corresponding LR folder on my Macbook disappeared!

Please advise.

I'm astonished by how exact your set up and use cases are to mine. I can't believe this is possible! Psyched to run home and try it while I'm out of town this week. Thanks for making this so clear!
