Back in September, 2010, I traveled to Fripp Island, South Carolina on a business trip with my friend Rick Shearer and previous business partner, Jerry West. We stayed in a gorgeous 3 bedroom house that was practically right on the beach. On this particular night, the sunset we witnessed was absolutely stunning.
This sunset photo was taken about 100 yards away from the house we were staying at. Rick, Jerry, and myself had just gotten into the golf cart we rented and began a journey around the island. I forced them to stop for 5 minutes so I could snap this photo. While I was taking this photo, we all just stood there and looked out over the water and horizon in amazement at how gorgeous it was.
Later this same evening, around midnight, we went for a walk along the beach (in a non-gay way). Because the sky was so clear and the island is free from surrounding lights, we could actually look up and see the Milky Way swirling through the air. I had never seen this before, nor did I even know it was something that could be seen from Earth.
