I traveled down to "The Villages" last week to seek out some awesome new scenes to add to my Landscape Photography Galleries. "The Villages" is a large retirement community in Florida and is more commonly known as "Florida's Friendliest Retirement Hometown". My Dad moved to this area almost 2 years ago and I've visited him on several occasions. Every time I've visited him, the sunrises and sunsets have been astounding.
Today's picture is a view of the sun just as it was about to rise up past the distant tree line. In order to make it to this location in time for a sunset shot, I had to wake up at 6:00am and then drive my Dad's golf cart about 1/2 mile away from his house.
The day before, I had scoped this location out as being a good spot for a sunrise picture and it definitely didn't disappoint me. When I first arrived at this spot early the next morning, it was still mostly dark out. So I just patiently waited 15-30 minutes until the sun came up. I took many series of pictures several minutes before this shot and many more after. But after returning to my Dad's home and viewing my images in Lightroom, I chose this particular shot because I loved the coloring.
During this visit, I spent 3 days traveling all over The Villages and got so many other great captures. I haven't processed them all yet, but I did put an online gallery together which features all of my current photos of The Villages. As I continue to complete the other pictures I took, I'll add them to this gallery. Click here to view my Gallery of The Villages Photos.
