One evening, while walking around the streets of London with my wife (Jennifer), and Trey & Tina Ratcliff, we rushed over to this church to try and capture some interior shots. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the doors were locked and we were only able to get photos of the exterior. It was a chilly, rainy night, and I rushed around the property taking snapshots from all different perspectives. Look for more of these photos as I continue to process them. Once completed, you’ll be able to view them in the London HDR Photos Gallery.

This is one of my favorite shots I took during my travels to London. I took this during Trey Ratcliff’s London photo walk. Since I was already spending a lot of time with Trey, I ventured around on my own during the photo walk so that his fans had plenty of one-on-one time with him. I was fortunate to have done this because I had time to properly compose this shot without worrying about catching up with a group of other photographers. If you look carefully, you’ll notice I snapped this photo just as the sun was about to disappear behind one of the distant buildings. There were plenty of people on the bridge this evening and I usually would have masked in a version of this picture where the people weren’t so ghosted, but I kind of like the way it looks in this shot.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think of this photo, as well as any other photo I’ve posted. Have any questions about how I post-processed this image? Ask away and I’ll do my best to answer.

This Summer I had the privilege of traveling to London to assist my good friend, Trey Ratcliff, with an hdr workshop. Trey’s hdr abilities are absolutely amazing, and getting to spend several days with him in London was such a blast.

On a Friday evening, Trey held a photo walk for fans of his from the London area. It started promptly at 6:30pm and as Trey, his wife, my wife, and I approached the meeting place, we could see a large crowd of people in the distance. We knew this crowd was for the photowalk because we also spotted a lot of tripods.

During the photowalk, I ventured out a lot on my own because I knew I had the next couple of days to spend with Trey and I wanted to give all of his fans an opportunity to pick his brain and get access to hear him point out his various tips and techniques.

To get this shot of the London Eye, I had to set my tripod into the lowest position it was capable of. This meant expanding the legs as far out as they could go. I waited until the majority of tourists were out of the shot and then fired off my 3 bracketed shots.

I ended up spending over 3 hours post-processing my hdr photo of the London eye, but I think it was time well spent. What do you think?
